For many years we have had the privilege to bring bright, twinkling lights to the Beach each winter. Stringing and weaving thousands of lights into the majestic trees that line the Boardwalk and celebrating with our community on the annual holiday Light Up The Beach evening is something we all look forward to. The lights certainly brightened many chilly nights for our family as we stroll the Boardwalk.
This year, seeing our community and especially our friends at Michael Garron Hospital as they face challenges due to COVID-19 has given us an opportunity to look closely at many ways that we can support our community. Light Up the Beach has now raised $60,000 for the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation.
With the disruption to many services, the risks to many front line workers and the health crisis we know more than ever that the safety of our staff and our community is our first priority. While we are not able to safely adhere to public health guidelines and string lights in the trees for our annual Light Up The Beach in 2020 we remain committed to supporting mental health and addiction services at Michael Garron Hospital.
We hope many of you will join us in continuing to show our support to frontline workers as we celebrate the holidays. For twelve years we have strung our lights, welcomed Santa, served hot chocolate and soup, carolled with the Malvern Choir and lit up our Beach — most importantly while surrounded by our beloved community. To say we are going to miss seeing everyone this year is an understatement. Thank you for enjoying our lights with us, it’s been a true labour of love from us, to you. Be well and stay safe.
